The familiar emotions creep in, almost silently but the twinges give them away. Sadness, insecurities, loneliness, a drop in self-worth, paired with the delicious topping of anxiety. The type of roommates that like to make themselves known when they're home. Retreating into yourself, into the world you own and control, in an effort to distance yourself from their loudness. A small comfort can be found knowing you've dealt with them before. Managed to rid the house of them, although always temporarily. And here they are again. With more belongings, and they even brought company. A shy but slowly coming out of their shell being; numbness. Tugging along a cage that will no doubt eventually hold all the other roommates. At least then it will be quiet. Not a pleasant quiet though. It's a still quiet, the kind you'd find amongst the darkness of the void.
The roommates attempt to be silent, trying to escape the cage. Muttering amongst themselves while the numbing grows. At first, it comes in waves, the roommates are silent, and nothing is happening, then comes their little voices before numbness covers their mouths. A stern look across their face, a warning to be still and mute. Eventually, somehow without warning, the cage encompasses the majority of emotions. Depreciating self-worth and lingering insecurities sit quietly in the corner. Numbness enjoys their company.
An acquaintance of numbness joins the party. I say acquaintance because they don't always get on. This being has not mentioned its name. It pushes to feel something, anything, wanting to remove numbness from the premises. Even though if numbness evacuates, the flood gates will open and the spiral may begin.
While the emotions are at war, pushing and pulling in all directions, hidden behind the walls of my head. My outside appears fine. A silent battle to be fought, until brighter beings come to visit.
